چکیده

The COI gene as the core of the DNA barcoding system for animals has received significant attention. The observed wide overlap between intraand interspecific sequence variability has led researchers to envisage the primary COI-based method. The sequences of 16S rDNA, COI, and Cyt b genes of Nezara virudula (L.) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) from 13 countries and the same sequences of N. antennata Scott were chosen as molecular markers to analyze the intraand interspecific relationships between the closely related species in this study. The results support that Cyt b gene may be a good candidate alongside COI, when the combined factors of geographic variation and closely related species are taken into account.

Appraisal of the entire mitochondrial genome for DNA barcoding in birds

DNA barcoding based on a standardized region of 648 base pairs of mitochondrial DNAsequences from Cytochrome C Oxidase 1 (COX1) is proposed for animal species identification.Recent studies suggested that DNA barcoding has been effective for identifying 94% of birdspecies. The proposed threshold of 10 times the average intraspecific variation could be used forthe identification and delimitation ...

Sampling Strategy and Potential Utility of Indels for DNA Barcoding of Closely Related Plant Species: A Case Study in Taxus

Although DNA barcoding has become a useful tool for species identification and biodiversity surveys in plant sciences, there remains little consensus concerning appropriate sampling strategies and the treatment of indels. To address these two issues, we sampled 39 populations for nine Taxus species across their entire ranges, with two to three individuals per population randomly sampled. We seq...

Assessment of SCoT and DAMD molecular markers in genetic diversity and species delimitation of three moss species grown in Iran

This study was conducted to assess the efficacy of SCoT and DAMD molecular markers in genetic diversity  of three moss species and compare them with ISSR marker. Another objective was to evaluate the suitability of these DNA markers in species identification (delimitation) in three moss species, including Neckera complanata, Homalothecium sericeum and Neckera cris...

Population structure of the Brazilian southern green stink bug, Nezara viridula

The Southern Green Stink Bug, Nezara viridula (L.) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae), is a cosmopolitan and economically important pest to several crops. Studies on N. viridula migration and population structure have been neglected. We studied geographically distinct Brazilian N. viridula populations to assess their variability and to determine gene flow among them. DNA from specimens collected on so...
